Blog Post #5: The Trees Are Alive With the Sound of Silence

Another week goes by and another thing to check off the old list. Finally figured out all the issues with MASH Networks and the team is getting to add the new layouts to their animation scenes. It’s been a great time trying to figure out why everything was not appearing or just disappearing and well… One thing: Always make sure your project is set to the correct location! The other thing: Not all YouTube tutorials are going to give you all the answers so improvising and testing are required!

And a lot of testing there was. It took me and another teammate to figure out why these items were just not showing up. And it was dishearteningly obvious once we figured it out. Instances don’t travel well. Would’ve never guessed but once I turned the little monsters back into the Mesh-Repros they suddenly appeared in their great forestation invasion! Then we did some render tests and at first everything was scary looking, but not in a good way. The renders came out looking like AI slop, but once Arnold got its act together, they came out looking pretty snazzy.

And so now, we begin the lighting experiments. Hopefully they don’t take as long as these did, but I do have to figure out atmospheric volumes and aiFog in the Arnold Renders so it’ll be an adventure in misadventures, I’m sure. Until then!
