Blog Post #7: The Things We Do In the Lights
Another week, another post. This time, just like the last time, it’s about LIGHTS! For the past two weeks I’ve been diligently working on lighting the Bayou. Having to do two different sets of lighting aspects for this set and each has their own ups and downs for the mood and such. The blue sky (night to dawn) is supposed to be idyllic and peaceful, lulling anyone into a false sense of security, while the red sky (Dawn and turning moment) is supposed to give the audience, at first, a feeling of dread but after that it’s a moment of brief respite and revelation. It was fun to get these basic lighting tests done, although more work will have to be poured into them to get them to final positions next semester, but that’s for FUTURE DREW to deal with.
As for PRESENT DREW, I am beginning work on the other sets to light them in a way that reads even in the playblasts. Getting them fully ready, at least to the standard of the pre-screening, will be a challenging task as Arnold and Play blast read lights very differently. But, I’m always down for learning! Below are some of the test renders I did for the different skies I mentioned. Short and sweet otherwise.
So, until next time!
