Lighting up the Stage

This week, I began working on basic lighting for all the other scenes, including the exterior of the Music Hall and soon, very soon, the interior of it as well. It’s always great to see new textures pop in when I visit these old haunts from last semester. They are really starting to come to life, especially after I add even the smallest specks of lighting to them. I have been having some issues with getting the lights to look good in the play blasts. It just goes on forever and there is no dimming or way to make them not just continue on infinitely. In the render, thanks to Arnold, I assume, they look amazing, but as soon as I click the little light bulb icon to do in Maya lighting… Oh boy does it look absolutely awful. I’ve been doing some research but I must be looking in the wrong areas or doing something wrong as it seems that the No Decay to Linear should help fix it, but I have yet to see any success in that department.

I am super happy with how things are shaping up this semester. It feels like we are pretty close to getting everything ready for the preview screening. It’s like super exciting but also nerve-wrecking. EEEEEEEHH! (Just imagine me jumping up and down squealing, legs shaking in nervous anticipation!) I’m so ready for a break though. It hasn’t felt like that long, mainly because time is FFFFF-lyyyying by. I can’t believe it’s already almost Fall Break and then right into Finals week! Holy SMOKES!

Anyways, not much else to report on. More to come.

Until next time!!
