Here We Are and That’s Where We Need To Be
It’s always funny to see the progress you’ve made on a project but then realize how much more progress is required. It’s not all doom and gloom though. We are well on our way to finishing this thing and getting it in the can. Very exciting. But, and a very big one at that, we still have to figure out our renders and lighting. We start lighting officially, for each shot, very soon (two weeks to be exact). Suffice it to say, I am both looking forward to getting the shots done and worried about how they will turn out. I want that movie polish but have no real idea how to get there, at least until I see the rendered product. So to fill my time, I am adjusting base lighting on sets and modeling little bits and bobs for a more fully fleshed out world.
I think it’s interesting to see what gets forgotten in the big strokes and what needs to be touched up with the smaller brushes. Like, for example, it feels quite obvious that we should have candles at the tables. Apparently, we made them our first semester (good job past selves) but we seemed to have lost the posts or that they were around because we immediately were like “we need some candles on those tables!” (Bad job present selves). But luckily one of our team remembers almost everything we have made and reminded us that she had made it way back when. So luckily not too much, but now I have a half finished centerpiece that will probably just get binned. Oh well, that’s show business!
But so far, pretty slow start here. Waiting for the bigger pictures to really start showing off stuff.
More to come!
