Waiting in the Unlit Wings

The anticipation for my big job this semester is killing me. But as all pipeline things go, its not quite ready until the due dates pop up. It’s very interesting to work on this pipeline style where everyone is working on the same thing but in different departments. Sometimes, it’s awesome to go back to a set and see everything colored in and looking snazzy. It’s also a pain to have to sit on your hands while you wait for someone to publish certain things. It feels like a hurry up and wait kind of game.

In the meantime, I have been modeling more stuff for little details that went unnoticed in the playblast. Mainly, a lantern on a chain for Madam Gator’s chateau. It’s simple and should give the house some much needed sprucing up. Especially when I get to put a light in it.

It feels like I’m just waiting for my cue, my lead-in line so I can start being a big part of the show. Up front and center in the burning white spotlight. Luckily, I don’t have to do it all on my own, but it would’ve been fun to see how far I could go before I needed help. But it is a group project at the end of the day, and I would much rather share the load than burn out trying to be a hero, as much as I want to be a hero.

This lantern will look pretty good once it gets textured. Very happy with keeping the corners softer and the chain more cartoony. But I will have to see it in the scene to know if it truly fits.

Anyways, not much else. I’m sure once the lighting gets going this Monday, I’ll have more to show off.

Until then!
